M. Cassandra Pascal was born in Boston, Massachusetts and proudly represents her Haitian heritage. Cassandra has had a desire for writing from the age of 10. Over the years, Cassandra has written several poems and worked on writing projects in school papers, community projects, church, and non-profit organizations. Cassandra has always participated in minority student organizations since high school.

During her college years, Cassandra had a great opportunity to really display her talent during a poetry reading for Black History Month. She was the secretary and community service director of the African American Cultural Society and participated in the Martin Luther King parades in Orlando and Oviedo, Florida. She wrote a poem titled “Still Walking” became a personal biography on her identity, self-esteem, and self-worth on her reflection of life. Cassandra did not stop there. She created a women’s group known as Get Up on the Wall that touch on issues of spirituality, self-awareness, depression, cultural awareness, and personal development.

Cassandra self-titled herself as the Underestimated Diamond which what honestly best describes her. “I am honestly a big introvert but I have always been drawn to servicing others. I always like to look behind the veil of every situation. I have always looked at the operations and internal development of every situation. You can call me analytical but I truly pay attention to the details. Again I am shy so I usually don’t express it. I have understood that the diamond is one of the most precious jewels on earth. People are attracted to the shine but never realize the transition that it must go through. When you apply enough pressure to this rock, a diamond will form. Hence the name Underestimated Diamond.”

Cassandra is a benefactor/member of Women Writers of Haitian Descent, Inc. and has been published in Onè? Respè!; a journal of the Women Writers of Haitian Descent, Inc.
